How To Set Up Google Analytics On Blogger

Setting up Google Analytics on your Blogger Blog will not earn you any money, but it certainly helps you figure out which of your blogs are popular, and which of them are sort of lame.

A blog can be hit or miss, so knowing what people are reading gives you a nice heads up.

One of my most popular blogs is my travel blog, called Wonders of Grand Bahama Island. Also my myspace and facebook survey blog is gaining rapid popularity.

My other blogs are mainly for fun. The hits are far less, but the blog has earned me a few dollars, and hey- it's a few more dollars that I didn't have before.

Anyhow, setting up Google Analytics is easy as pie.

You first will want to go into your google account, and go to the tab that says 'analytics'. Click it.

Now look for a tab that says ADD WEBSITE PROFILE.

Here you will add in your websites web address. Your blogger url.

Add this, and get a tracking code. You need to add this code to your Blogger Blog in order for the tracking to start taking place.

You do this by cutting the code.

First copy the code, and then go to your blogger account.

In your dashboard hit LAYOUT.

Next find the tab that says EDIT HTML. Click it.

Now look in your long list of codes. The list will be long, but don't worry, scroll to the near bottom and find < /div >< /div>

Right after that, you will see an end outer-wrapper with a weird arrow. --->

Add your code by pasting it in right after the arrow. You can find this code usually at the end of the list on your Edit HTML page.

If you did it properly you can find out fairly quickly by going back to Google Analytics.

You will probably see a warning error on the blog tracker. However this does not always mean it did not work. Give it a few moments and wait, or check the status by clicking EDIT.

At the top it will tell you the trackers status. At the very top it will say 'waiting for data'. Leave it be, and wait for google to do the rest!

Once the tracker is all installed properly you can view daily hits to your site, and you can view what key words people were using in order to find your blog. You will also be able to see which other websites linked your blog! It's a very neat tool, and you will love it.

What I really enjoy as well, is being able to see where my hits came from. I get many odd hits from China, and Japan which are always interesting!
